Could anyone point me out a site where the diferences between a ATM and IP network are pointed

On that core, difference simply lies on the switching equipment used to connect backhaul networks. ATM, the traditional, long time used protocol that employs SS7 signaling, and also expensive from what I gather, and IP, which bypasses having to use SS7 signaling instead, and reduces overhead by eliminating protocol networks conversion from ATM to IP and vice versa.
