right click on network neighbourhoood go to properties then change your network card from full duplex to half duplex

Umm.. I'm confused.. What would duplex mode have to do with his disconnection problem? Cable modem connections typically connect at 10MBps on the WAN Ethernet port, and a typical 10MBps port always operates on half duplex.

so then what do i do? change it to 100mb half duplex or 10mb half duplex? Any help would be aprreciated, i hate getting disconnected every hour or so!

There is a problem with network cards and automatic recognition of speeds and protocols. It happens because there is not a single standard defining how the auto-negotiation should work.

There was recently a post which said that a problem similar to yours was solved by disabling autonegotiation and setting the protocol to 10mb half duplex.

I'd suggest that one should never allow autonegotiation and avoid the whole issue. Whether that will help you or not is not clear, but I would sure set/force the card to 10 mb half duplex.

just set your self static dude then ping your gateway and see if there is any packed loss

also about 11- 11:30 pm cdt call tech support when it is usually slower and get them to repush your modem and computer

this will restage your DHCP info and give your modem a fresh config file as well:cool:   :rotfl: :2cool: :p  :D

Ahh yes, How do I set myself static? I entered my Ip Address, SubNet and Gateway...I didnt enter DNS server or whatever cause Idont know how...BUT once i etnered the ip,subnet and gateway, rebooted, opened WINIPCFG and clicked More INfo..THe Lease wasnt there, which means I have UNlimited time online now and it dispalyed the ip address as well..

But When i went to try Internet Explorer it didnt work, I tried checking 'do no automaticly detect settings' but that didnt work..I think i Need to enter my DNS thing or whatever no? Please help with this, much thanks!

you need to put in the DNS

host is same as computer name c123456-a
domain is something like alntn1.tx.home.com
it will be an abreviation for your town dot state dot home dot com
the DNS are 2 numbers

the domain suffix is same as domain:nod:

Reading your post it sounds like your OS isn't renewing your lease every hour. It should be able to renew with out any service interruption. I have a 4 day lease and it renews with out any interruptions. Your running win 95, have you updated your winsock to winsock2? Get it here
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/bin/W95ws2setup.exe

Plus load this patch was well
