Just checked with my local cable provider in Columbus IN ( about 1 hr south of Indy) according to their @ home sign up rep it suppose to be available next month:p

First hopefully their telling the truth, 2 finally it here

third I need a checklist on what to have done for a good install

1 single line from tap to computer
2 whats a good nic card to use
3 any other ideas

Sometimes you can run a spliter to get the cable to the modem. Sometimes they need to run a new line into the house. Depends on the setup, varies. Second, I read an article that was posted somewhere on this forum (but can't remember where) that compared different NIC cards. The one that came out on top was the Netgear FA312. It had the highest transfer rate, and still being reasonably inexpensive. Thats pretty much it. Cable modems have pretty much all the same DOCSIS standard. @home runs DOCSIS, so it wont matter if you get a RCA or a Toshiba modem, just your preference.

Don`t install their software, get a good firewall, and don`t use their proxy.
