How about a member of the week?

well that could be done but how do we decide who is the member of the week?

What would the member have to do to be recognized as the "Member of the Week"?

I think the mods, as a whole, could decide. I think you should have one for every forum section (cable/dsl, tweaking, general, etc) i guess it could be decided by who helped out the most, and who in general contributed the most that week to making SG a better place.

OMG, that's crazy! Who would decide? On some boards, that would work and be wonderful. On SG there are just too many VERY smart people that it would cause some serious problems.

you could always have it as a compeletely random thing, like "spotlight on: <member>" and let everyone get to know a little more about their fellow members, since most people rarely click on the profile button.

That's a good idea, but I think that some SG'rs might get pissed when I take the award every week :D

how about including a "rate member" feature, ive seen it on other boards, the person with the highest average (you could give a rating of from 1 to 10) could be the member of the month, and when the member of the month is posted in say a special member of the month forum the rate member feature is wiped clean to start the next month off, some kind of reward could be given like being able to change the line below your member name to whatever you want (mod approved ofcourse)
