After installing my new Diamond HomeFree Wireless PCI card, the Internet connection no longer works. I'm using a Kingston KNE100TX 10/100 Ethernet card. The installation wizard doesn't even get to the stage where the computers on the network sense each other..please help, if you know anything..ogdo@adelphia.net or Ogdo21 on AIM

Hi,
A wireless PCI-card won't do a lot without an access point. It is like putting a NIC in your pc without connecting the network cable.
Can you tell what your complete configuration looks like?

Diamond HomeFree Wireless uses network cards in one or more computers to share, without using an AP. I've checked all of that. Inefficient, sure, but performance isn't what I'm looking for. I just need to get the PCI card in. It's the last available slot I have, but it still doesn't work if I remove the old analog modem. I'm using a cable connection with a Kingston KNE100TX on a P3/500 running Win98SE with 64mb RAM and a 4.3gb HDD. The wireless card is new, as is the other card (ISA card in an older computer, installs fine). I've attempted to remove several network bindings, protocols, etc. as instructed by both Windows and Diamond, with (obviously) no luck.

Sorry should have done my homework a little better. Have you been looking into the reviews published here on speedguide.net
by Dr. Kevin Leung?

I've looked over the article by Leung and didn't find anything related to my problem. Is there any way for me to contact him? I may need a copy of the CD, even though you're supposed to be able to get everything you need from Diamond's website. Maybe the install wizard is different, who knows.

Hi Ogdo,
Don't know if you still have the same problem but I found another review with interesting tips. You've already been changing bindings and protocols but there might be something useful in this.
