View Full Version : Norton AV doesn't catch SubSeven???

Well, Norton firewall blocks all attempts of SubSeven on my system(2-3 times a day). But when I scan system with NAV, it says no viruses found. I update NAV files regularly.
Is this little horse so hard to catch?
I tried every trojan scanner - nothing.

If your firewall is blocking attempts from someone looking for a Sub 7 trojan on your computer, it doesn't necessarily mean that your computer has one. It is merely someone searching for any open machine to connect to IF the trojan is, in fact, on the machine.
If your on Cable or DSL, get used to it. I've had well over 74 hits on ports 27374 and 1243 this month alone. ;)

If your ever in doubt as to what is and isn't connected or listening, first shutdown any application that starts up with windows and accesses the internet (Except your firewall) then when you get your desktop up, go to a dos prompt and type in
netstat -an
This will show all active ports and connections and whether they are listening or actively connected. You should have only 1, possibly none, connected. Remember, this must be immediately after boot!
