I have searched the board and I don't think this has been discussed before. I just got the Linksys Router this weekend and everything works great. Set up my email and works fine. Now I cannot FTP though because of the "firewall" caused by my router. Where in the Router setup do i allow myself the ability to transfer files using ftp? do i need to open a port? Sorry if this seems a newbie-type question.

Yes you need to open ports.

Which Ports?

Read this:

Don't wanna be a wiseguy but FTP uses port 21 for control and port 20 for data.

hey, you're not being a wise guy. somebody else may not have know that. i already tried that but as it turns out it was a problem with what the isp told me to enter as my ftp location. everything is running smoothly now. got rid of the @home crap and also redid my msconfig to eliminate some pesky apps. thanks guys for da help! :)

ps. ftp'ing to my new server is great and very fast. i now have my website off geocities (finally) and will be updating it more as time permits. I have my system specs here (http://members.home.net/tshboy/cpu.html) if anyone is interested.
