My Win98 booted up with registry errors (you know, the one that prompts you to restart every time you boot) ever since this 4in1 was introduced to it. And that was just my computer. I also got my new membership to my colleagues' Black List after I installed this driver on their computers. Now they won't let me go near...

thanks for the input, still not sure.could success and failure of this application have anything to do with proper installation and could anybody(newbie question?) give me tips on that?

I just want to know that info for use in downloading anything at all especially take extra precaution regarding OS related stuff.for instance, i heard one person say to load direct from web site versus save to disk.

Well the fact is that some people get good results like performance lift, some no change, and others screw up on it. Besides proper installation, I think OS configuration/environment also matters. In my case, I made a mistake of running setup.exe instead of selecting Update driver from Device Manager. From my experience, it is not a good idea to run setup.exe when installing drivers, especially IDE drivers; the best way would be manually locating the required driver files and browse to it from Device Manager, so you can prevent setup.exe from copying all the unnecessary files that may actually make things worse. Just my little opinion for your reference. May or may not apply to all cases.

All that said, my advice to you regarding the 4in1 driver is this: Better don't touch it if your system is already stable without it. Install it only if your system doesn't function properly without it.:)
