Alright, I've been setting up accounts and such on my Win2K box and I've discovered something quite unsettling.

A new "mystery user" has appeared in every directory permissions box, and I have no idea who or what this user is. It has a very strange name, called

S-1-5-21-436374069-.... etc.

A whole long string of digits, which I don't know what they signify. This user does not exist in the standard Users Management screen, ONLY when accessing the folder permissions. The designated icon is a white user head with a red question mark, which I suppose means that Windows doesn't know what that account is.

This account appears to have read and execute permissions by default, but what is odd is even when we remove this user's permissions from a folder, upon rebooting, the user reappears, even though we aren't connected to the Internet.

Could this be a security hazard? Or is it just some sort of "default account" created by NT for some reason?
