I'm getting a new pc , what programme's do I need to play games on win2k ??

You shouldn't need any special programs to play games. Just make sure that they are compatible with win2000. Check the box at the store if your not sure. So far I've been able to play Q2, Q3, and CS on win2000. I haven't tried any other games.

Installing the lastest version of Direct X is always a good thing and installing the service packs on Win2k is also a good thing.

Also there are a lot of games that will work for 2k that aren't listed as 2k compatable.

really the only way to know if a game is win2k compatible is to try it, as the problem may not lie with win2k but rather your video card manufacturer's win2k drivers or some other hardware driver

Almost all of my games are biting the dust hard since I've moved to win2k. It has been a real pain.

Sorry to say you may need Win ME for some stuff....unfortunately!

Install all the compatibility updates from Windowsupdate and the SP2...as well as DX8 and get the latest drivers for your sound and vid card. You shouldnt have any trouble then.

Man I love to use "Cnet Catchup" for software updates.
I also like ro run it at resource intensive times because it measures the amount of ram in use.:)
