hello everyone.i had my pc in the shop had more mem added and pc tech tells me my A drive(1.44 floppy) was setup in ms-dos compatibility file mode.any downloaded hardware tests have constantly been saying that my cached read-write speeds are only 50-75% of similar pc's,especially slow is my c drive(c,d,e).
is this fixable with avoiding having to wipe drives clean and reformat?is A drive setup responsible for slower then average hard disc performance?I'm a novice pc user having only owned one a few months,so could you help me out please?

Try the hardware forum, Or pull the a drive out and reinstall it. Plus go into the bios and make sure it is setup correctly. Your manul for your computer mother board if you have one will explain how. If not go to your mother boards web site and see if you can download a manul for it. Or if it's still under warrenty call your tec service and they will help you out.;)

storm 90,i took a good look at my motherboard book but i must say first of all that i am only a beginner pc'er .i would like to know how to check or look at my bios info,i know you press something or other during bootup.I stay away from the guys that put my computer together, I know they took advantage of my ignorance and already made several mistakes but thats another story.
don't have a single brochure or anything regarding my diskette drive(A).In your opinion do you think this is related to slow drive speeds?
