I recently downloaded Borland C++.zip file and installed it a few days ago. Today I realized that I had to many unused programs on my comp so I uninstalled a few games, and other proggy's I don't use including Borland C++. When I restarted my computer a message appeared and this is what it said "Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application. The windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device no longer exists. If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program. If you still wantto use the application associated with the device file, try reinstalling that applicationto replace the missing file. C:\BC5\TDDEBUG.386 press any key to continue_" That's exactly what it says.... So I hit a key and my sound wasn't working. So judging from C:\BC5\TDDEBUG.386 I figured it was a Borland C++ file so I reinstalled it, restarted, and a message appeared telling me to put in the WIN 98 CD and I did just that. Everything is fine now with my sound but I don't want Borland C++ installed and the long message about "cannot find a device file" still appears every time I start my comp.........Any suggestions? Oh and when I open the Borland C++ zip it says that TDDEBUG.386 is a VIRTUAL DEVICE DRIVER........HELP PLEASE:cry:

Sounds Like it deleted some of your system files. If so you will have to reformat and reinstall windows. If you can still get in windows try going down your start up list in windows system Information. You may be able to solve this proublem this way . Plus use fine files and make sure there are no extra exe. from this program left over. GoodLuck!

Try a scanreg/restore before a f/f/r.

Yes try booting into dos and run a scanreg/restore..and if that don't work just get out the ole Win98cd and reinstal Windows no need to format the drive.

Or look in your system.ini for the reference or your registry, after you uninstall it again and remove it. If it blows your sound again just reinstall your sound drivers.
