Nothing you can really do. They probably have cable or dsl. I play all the Rogue Spear games and its a dog for online gaming. You should try counter-strike

I agree with coolJ ;-)

RS has a horrible 3d engine, horrible netcode, and CS is better ;)

When I dial-up and im online I try to connect to one of the cs servers it's counting the seconds until connection and i connects and says insalizing and downloading then it kicks me off....

Just try the exact same server again and you will probably get on fast.

Its one of a handful of annoying bugs with HL/CS

I hear ya man im stuk on 56k for at least 3 more months. My usual download is 5.4 k thats only about 450 times slower than the rest of the people on this board. :p I tried everything on this thing man it just cant be done with 56k. But if you want to try suggest posting in the tweak section after the initial snickers of the cable users, the might be able to suggest some decent tweaks. L8r

56 / 8 = 7KBps

You will never get faster than that on a 56K

--

Now since current 56Ks are limited to 53K...

53 / 8 = 6.5KBps (rounded)

So... once again you will never get any faster than that.

When you are on dial up check to see what speed you are connected to in bytes... like 53,000bytes = 53Kbit = 6.5KBytes

This way you can tell if you are maxing your connection out from your ISP or if you could use a little tweaking or config help.

Your 5.4Kbyte download meant you were either connected at and limited to 43Kbits or the server(s) was limiting you to that.

Check your connection rate and report back.

Hey ping. I usually connect at 45,333 bps. Im not TOO concerned because the cable is coming my way soon... ( not soon enough ) but if you have any suggestions id be glad to try em out, on 56 k every little bit helps i mean cable extra 1 k = no big deal 56 k and 1 k equals 1/5 my download. Depressing really. lol Thanx man

do the math 45.3 / 8 = 5.6 (roughly)

So 5.6KB per second would be the absolute maximum your connection could download at.

Check that out, if you are not getting that or atleast close to it (it could be the server your downloading from if you are not)

Use the way top menu to get to the tweaks page and change your Recieve window to reflect your conneciton to your ISP.

If you are getting atleast 5KB per sec on your downloads I would leave it alone. (average)

Hmm.. guess that math stuff does come in handy. Yeah im not gonna mess around with it i did that math thing to 45333 / 8 = 5.666 k a sec wich is almost what i download at now so ill leave well enough alone. thanx
