View Full Version : NEWBIE to tweak or not????
ive had my cable for about a month now and i think it rocks ive looked at tweaking but its over my head ive tried the generic patches and didnt notice much difference :(
so can anyone tell me what the heck to do and how to do it in simple plain old english.
its a 512 connection
THANKS IN ADVANCE ;)
Is this 512KB/s or 512kbps? Do You know for sure positive of what your ISP is giving you downstream and upstream? Have you asked them? If it's only 512 kilobits per second, the tweaking isn't really going to benefit you much, if at all. If it's 512KiloBytes per second, tweaking will make a significant change in your speeds! Once you can answer these questions, we'll be more apt to be able to determine whether it will help or not. Need more info, such as Provider, Operating System, What and Whos tweaks you've installed etc.;)
Also, if you would please, take the TCP/IP analyzer test and post the results in your reply to this thread.

512KiloBIts per second Im guessing.
Max you'll get is 64KBps.

That's what I'm thinking too, and we all know where that'll go.
Sometimes I wish they would just measure it one way or the other, but not both. It would make life a tad easier for giving directions.:D
