Please help this gamer with pings/cable modem/lan

I just got my cable modem installed, and I have several computers going thru a NAT router. When two pcs connect to a game, for example UT, the pings are around 20 ms! Awesome. As soon as a third computer connects, it jumps way up to 400ms. I have tried several different tests with different pcs and games. And, the same thing happens if I use linux to route.

This was never a problem with DSL. Any ideas?

If the problem is when all three computers are hooked up and playing at the same time, it is problably due to the limited upload bandwidth of cable services; I think around 1.5 mips. With DSL you can pay for any amount of uploading bandwidth you like. This is my best answer.

sounds like the router, update the firmware .If you have try again I had the same problem but even with 4 comps on the same server at my old 128kbps upstream they all had great pings.
