how can i lower my ping in CS

i have cable and usually get 50 ping but some of my friends with the same isp and live down the street can get 25-30 on the same server as me. anyone got any ideas of how i can reduce my ping?

50ms is a good ping I wouldnt complain.

50ms is an excellent ping,,, my first HOP is 60ms,,, I am lucky to get to any server in 80ms,,, typically 120ms..... I would kill to get your ping.

Additionally to CoolJ's message, do you have the same computers??? When you get that low into ping CPU cycles count along with NIC card and cables and connections.

Any Ping under 100ms is excellent for gaming.

I would hurt (not kill ^^) for 50 ping. I normall get 70-80 but its all good ;)

actually my computer is better than his but he has winme and i have win98
anyways, are there any tweaks that can lower my ping?

Speedguide Tweaks (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_patches.shtml) Select the right operatings system and download the files.

U have cable so dont download the PPPoE version. Read the page I posted, after you apply the tweaks U have to reboot for them to take.

I would recommend posting in the tweaking forum if U want further clarification or assistance.;)

50 ping.....When I playing online games, my ping is like 300 to 5000..........too bad......is tweak can down my ping. I am using Cable modem too. :(

Games use UDP, and tweaking affects TCP/IP which means no soup 4 you! :)
