Hi

I have a home network with a 5-port Linksys hub and a Linksys DSL router. Hi-speed internet works fine on all computers. However, anytime I want to use RealPlayer Plus to view a video file, I get a message telling me that it cannot find the file. It seems like it is unable to download the files to my computer. Is there some setting in my router that I have to change to enable it to allow the files to enter my computer?

Thank you.
Patrick

I never used the linksys router, but yes you need to forward the port real player is trying to open to the machine using real player. I use a d-link router and I am not sure about the setup options in the Linksys Router. I know for sure that Linksys router has a DMZ mode. What you will need to do is to specify ip of the computer that you are using for real player. I don't know which OS you are using but you should see an option in ur network setting to obtain ip automatically or to specify an IP. Choose specify ip, make it "192.168.0.2" with subnet mask of "255.255.255.0" if this ip is not used by other computer ofcourse, also put ip of your router into the gateway option and DNS option. Then goto your linksys router setup and put this ip into DMZ mode.

Hope it helps. ;)

I have that same damn problem. Does anyone here know that port/s that RealPlayer uses?
