I was using dslreports' recommend rwin number and drtcp for a while. Their rwin number that tweak tester II recommended for my line speed gave me high packet loss, horrible pings to websites, and slow service. I thought about removing those patches and use speedguide's patch and system.ini tweak, but I was soo busy in real life. When I had time tonight, I took drtcp off my desktop, and empty the recycle bin, I decide to come here and download the sguide_tweak_98_ME patch. After I download the patch, I install it, and reboot the computer by using shift and return.
Did a speed test(I only use speed tests for benchmarking), and this is my speeds below; it's normally between 68 to 91 times faster than a 56k:
** Speed 4618(down)/723(up) kbps **
(At least 92 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.
Considering this is a Saturday night, and it's only peak time, plus there's no one on my block with RR, these speeds are pretty good. It's only Saturday night, when everyone and their family, friends, relatives, etc get online, so I have to do a speed test after 2AM or 3AM and see what my speeds are. Here's a ping test to speedguide below:
C:\WINDOWS>ping www.speedguide.net

I download two speed test files from the ftp servers at ftp.kscable.com and got between 5000 to 8000 kbps. Using dslreports, I got high pings from 60 to 80ms, and slow speeds of 1000-2000 kbps. While 1000-2000 may not seem bad, I want much faster speeds, and everyone else in my area is getting between 2.5-4 mbps. So I decide to try y'all's patches and it's working for me!!
Using pcpitstop.com, I got between 5000 to 8000 kb/s down, and 500 to 800 kbps up. I want to thank you for your patches and hard work. I don't know where to post this, but if this is the wrong forum for it, I'd delete my post, and post it in the appropriate forums as neccessary. That's what I like about this forum: very nice, intelligent people available 24/7 whenever you need help. Or want to help, you could.
System.ini might have something to do with my low pings. I'm just singing my praises for your patches, system.ini, and the wonderful forums here full of nice people to converse with, available to help, and friendly:) I'm also using webtweak9x, so webpages can load up fast, and it's working nicely with system.ini and the patch. Considering the speeds I'm getting, I'm leaving everything alone.
Thank you Speedguide.net!
