Hello-
hope someone out there can help me. I have had cable modem service for 4 months without incident. However, recently my machine began to hang while accessing the internet. I'd cntrl-alt-delete and task mgr would show that MSGSVR32.exe stopped responding. I end that task and attempt to access the net again, but to no avail. Reboot, access the net for a few minutes and sure enough that file fails to respond. I called tech support and was told that Windows is causing my problem - not the modem. Checked microsoft's site - no luck there. Does anybody know what this file does, why it loads and why it hangs up my system all of a sudden? I have an external motorola surfboard modem, connected to a USB port. The system is an AMD K7 950. I have already tried doing a clean install of WIN 98 SE and that did not fix the problem. I have been using a Toshiba laptop with the cable modem successfully without problems, however I'd much rather be using my desktop.... thanks.
