This might be a dumb question but anyways, I just got a cable modem, with Roadrunner. I installed Zonealarm. I dont really know how to use it properly yet. Do I have to have my Computer "ON" in order for ZA to be working. When I shut my computer "OFF", is it unprotected? I dont like leaving my computer on all the time. If im working in say Msft word or something, ZA is running, and I am protected. Now, when I shut my computer off and go to bed, is it Unprotected? Also, is there any settings on ZA that I should be aware of?

Your computer is fine while it is off. Nothing can happen while it is off. ZoneAlarm is protecting you when your computer is on. In ZA you should set the internet to High and the local to medium. You can click on the box that says block internet servers but then your computer will not be able to act as a server to anything like games or anything. So if you host games a lot then do not check that box. Other than that you can set what programs you want to allow to access the internet under the programs tab.
