Hey Guys,
I dont get this. What happend is my computer "was" running win98 and the other computer is running win95. What happened is my computer got a virus or something, and delete C:\windows\system. Anyway i formated, but when i went to go install win98, the cdrom was bad. so i had to install win95. So both computers are now on win95. When my puter had win98, everything worked fine, i could see eachother in network neighborhood, both computer could access the internet, everything worked fine. But now. On both computers, you cannot see eachother in network neighborhood. It just says its computer name and entire network. I can look everywhere but not find the other computer. And the internet wont work. Its just preety messed up. But if i go start>find>computer... I type in the name of the other computer... it finds it. When i open it, i can see all the drives that i shared out. I can then right click and map it. So now its in windows explorer and everything works fine. When i reboot, I go back in windows explorer and nothing is there to do with any other computers. I dont understand. F & P sharing is both enables on both computers, in specific network card settings, and all around settings. I can ping both computers no problem, i just cant see them in network neighborhood, and i cant go on the internet on the other computer ( not this one ).

does anyone KNow what i did wrong? I am totally stuck. Ooh, bts its peer - peer networking, no hub.

Thanks Guys I really appreciate the help !
Matt

Is the Cdrom bad on both computers?

So you can't see in network neighborhood, but if you do a find computer, you can browse it?

My guess is your workgroups are different.

Win95 will also load Client for Novell and IPX, you can yank both of those. Just leave NetBEUI on each, Client for MS, F&P Sharing if you wish. TCP/IP for internet. Primary logon is Client for MS.

Bmed.

Mine does not work. But the other one works fine.

Btw, sometimes, on the other computer i can see this one in network neighborhood.

Well if your cdrom works on the other computer then you may be able to install Win98 back on both of them.

If you can see the other PC's drive and folders then you can copy the "Win98 folder into the PC that has a working CDrom. Then you need to go to the other PC and transfer that folder. After you have done that you should be able to open the folder and find the "setup.exe" file, click on that and let Win98 install from the folder.

The key is getting the win98 folder off the CD, and on to the PC that has the bad CDrom. If you can see the other files via network neighborhood then all should good.

Good Luck, BMED
