hi every one
I have a feeling that somthing wrong with my connection
I have ADSL

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows 98)

TCP options string = 0204054c01010402

MTU = 1396
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1356
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1356, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 9492
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 9492
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
520704 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 8)
260352 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 4)
130176 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 2)
65088 (MSS x 48)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 379.68 kbps (47.46 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 151.872 kbps (18.984 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 111 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

what patch should I use PPPoE or the normal
and which settings do I need to change to get best result

thanx!

The first thing you need to do to optimize your connection, is pump up that Rwin. You can do it by downloading cablenut’s tweaking program from his site http://www.broadbandnuts.com/cablenut/software.htm . After you download it, click on the adjuster when it pops up, go to file: open custom settings, then click on Ppoe DSL and install one of the values (Fast, Ethernet, router, normal) for win 9x (Me, 98, 95) or 2k. Reboot and repost your analyzer stats afterwards, they should be far better than usual, LoBo or someone in the tweaking forum can help you with some better Rwins than the cablenut program to give you a more optimal connection, but the cablenut values are pretty good as is.

Hopefully I helpped a bit :) :) :)

well done a few tweaks and here are the results:

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows 98)

TCP options string = 0204054c0103030301010402

MTU = 1396
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1356
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1356, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 373360
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 46670
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 14934.4 kbps (1866.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 5973.76 kbps (746.72 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 47 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

are they good ?

the main thing is getting your MTU from 1396 to 1500, that should get you most of the way up to speed

well I just set the MaxMTU to 1500 and rebooted
and here is the result:

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows 98)

TCP options string = 0204058e0103030301010402

MTU = 1462
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1422
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1422, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 373360

Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
523296 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
261648 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
130824 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
65412 (MSS x 46)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 14934.4 kbps (1866.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

I didn't know why but the scan always shows 38 points less the MaxMTU than the value that I set.

anyone?

also how can I know is my connection PPPoE implemented?

thanx.

the difference between 1462 and 1500 is for the ip header and some other stuff, if you look in other posts everyone's is that way. try optimizing your MSS like the Analyzer said now

Do you have to log in (type a user name and password to log in) before you can connect to the net? If so, then you are using PPPoE. MSS is 40 less than MTU... and please edit your posts and take out your IP address. Thank you.

i c

and how to I optimize the mss
isn't is automaticly set 40 lower than mtu?

my mtu is 1500 now

and I do have to enter a username and a pass so I am under PPPoE

do I need to dl the PPPoE patch? or the corrent setting are fine?

No, your MTU needs to be set at 1492. Who is your ISP? Do you know how to take a screen shot? Take a screen shot of the software you use to log in. Take your username out for privacy reasons and click the Window, then hit alt+the key next to F12(to the right) Then open up MS Paint in accessories, and hit Ctrl+V. That should paste the image. Save it then go to www.ranchoweb.com and upload your image. Get the url to the image and then come back and type [img] and put the url here but with no spaces . But if Winpoet, Enternet or RASPPPoE sound familiar... let us know without having to do all that. Thank you.

well just set the mtu to 1492

my ISP is Bezeq International (Israely ISP)

it's also my phone line company.

Fixed that for you... hmm... I think you're connected through Virtual Private Networking and I don't think that's PPPoE...

does this clear thing out? >

if it does what should I do then?

will it be VPN under win2000 also?

Sorry I don't know any VPN tweaks... sorry :( Try PPPoE tweaks anyway.. see if you notice an improvement. Later.
