I'm running @home cable in Tennessee with a Motorola CyberSURFR Wave Cable Modem and a D-Link DFE-530TX+ network card. Never had any problems with @Home on my old computer didn't have any problems with it on my new computer until around Christmas time. Now I have random disconnections in numerous programs. DCC Sends randomly stop and I randomly get kicked from a number of games during multiplayer. To list a few: Rogue Spear, Anarchy Online, World War 2 Online, Black and White... A few games seem to be unaffected such as Half-Life and Everquest. This problem has been driving me crazy. Have newest network card drivers, tried to restore default W98SE settings, remove all cable tweaks, but still nothing seems to do any good. If anyone can help me thanks in advance.

When was the last time you reinstalled Windows? I would gut everything except your data files and start over.

Post tracert's and pings to your game servers. Could be a packet loss problem.

Installed Windows 98 SE last August. It isn't the game servers when it happens on every server I can find heh. Also I would hope that the MMORPG Game Servers would work well enough for me not to get kicked off every 5 minutes or less.

u should probably format and start over, it would speed up yer computer, and hopefully get your connection to work

do u rent the modem? if so called the tech and say ur modem loses sync at random times and a "power cycle" doesnt always fix it. They will send someone out to ur house and check the modems power rating/signal and or the line if needed, if u have cable tv and a basic four way splitter they can boost ur signal with a two way off the main line so that one two way line is cable internet and the other line from the two way connects the four way cable tv splitter doesnt connect to it.

sorry for lack of punctuation. I say try this first if u rent the modem cause all that is free :)
