View Full Version : firewall for mac
any one know of one , i even done a search in the forums, either none there or over looked it
any ideas, thanx guys
(its for a friend)
If your running Mac OS X you might be able to get the gcc installed and port IPFilter from FreeBSD over to it.
Otherwise, you might have to settle for Windows quality bunk freeware :(

i might have missunderstood you, but are you saying a firewall for windows per say zonealarm will work???????????????
No I meant that Windows freeware is junk.
You would be better off porting the IPFilter code from FreeBSD onto Mac OS X and writing your own firewall from scratch. Kernel based packet filtering is fast, efficient, and a hell of a lot better then any firewall you'll ever find for Windows.
