Okay, I tried to upgrade my Windows Media Player from 7 to 8... First of all... it's because my Windows Media Player wasn't functioning to begin with... I would play music and there would be no sound.. So I tried to install the upgrade and it said no upgrade was neccessary... so I clicked back and chose "Reinstall Components"... Did that... reboot and got a whole bunch of errors... All similar to these

What is this about!?!? When I try to uninstall it, setup gives me an illegal operation and I can't finish uninstalling it... If anyone knows how I can get rid of that stupid player completely, let me know. I'll just use WinAmp :) Thanks

I dontrealy know normally when I install a proggy If I get an error when I try to uninstall it I just reinstall it. I m sure there some else theat would be better to help you out evil than me. But if youu did a reg. restore to a date befor you intsalled the proggy that will remove the reg. keys that it added and changed than you could try just deling the files that came with it. I have never tryed something like that. I suree thier a better way to go about this. Have you try to install windows media player 7? Or you could del the folders and restor the reg and than install windows media player. If you have nortan and do dediced to restore the ger. be sure to doa check with windoc it pick up invild reg. eys and files left behind.
Like I said I really just learning this stuff you probly get get better adivce than that.;)

to do so you have to go to add remove programs and then click on window setup, uncheck multimedia, click apply and then check multimedia, click apply and ok, it will copy files and make you reboot. This could help, maybe.

You could possibly try installing the newer version 7.1 which has the files for 8 in it this may correct your problem. If not it is easy to uninstall and start over, I did this to my son'n then just installed the newer version now it's working fine. Just a thought, Might help!
