Lobo refered me to you with this question from my other thread :)

"I have two computers hooked to my ugate3000 and on my second computer after using a cable patch I started getting a error at windows start saying that it couldn't load a protocal. I'm familiar with that error so I took out NETBEUI and reinstalled it. The error went away but not everytime I start up IE it says no internet connection and asks me to either work offline or try again. If I click try again it works fine. How do I fix that?"

send your question to him over here -->CableNut Forum (http://www.broadbandnuts.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi)
He's finding it harder and harder to get over here... being he's running a bunch of stuff over there. :)

i have seen this same issue several times, often when upgrading the o/s. the only thing i have found that keeps the message from coming back is to repair i.e. in case you are unfamiliar, in the control panel, find add/remove programs and find i.e. (listed under microsoft internet explorer) and click add/remove. this will prompt a dialogue box with 3 options. select repair and the tool should take care of the rest. usually, you will need to reboot after the repair is complete. good luck.

Uhm Well; Start with NetBEUI go into network properties under Netbuei on the advanced tap Raise Maximum Sessions to 38 and NCBS 18 this will give it more of a buffer. Try that should make a differnce.
You can run the IE repair which might help on that machine but you might want to set IP address's insted of DHCP this way the machine isn't doing the Ack every 10 minutes to do a keep alive on DHCP you want to set your IP UHM...

ok lets say the Ugate wan is 192.168.0.1 your first machine would be 192.168.0.2 and the third .3 set the sunet mask at 255.255.255.0 and put the gateway IP in of 192.168.0.1 If you have your DNS numbers you can put them in as well.. just make sure to put the domain on them both.. this will help quite a bit.

After all of that go into IE connection properties and run the wizard again making sure nothing is checked through that..
If this still persists Let me know. The reason you might have to lower MTU a touch and raise Rwin this will balance it on the LAN better..
Consumer Routers Dont have or most don't have IPsec or pass through if the knukle heads at ugate would get there act together you wouldnt have this problem same with most of the routers(They forgot a RFC or too)
The new beta works great but has its short commings two they forgot to ofload RX and TX so every 16 hours it seems I have to disconnect and reconnect. Once I do that back in business. As it said in the other thread. I guess we are the only two that use Ugate on this board cause no one has shown any intrest in the beta..
If you do a true Sniff test on the router the best MTU through a untweaked machine is 1362 before beta and on Cable 1472 or around that. with beta its right where its supposed to be..

Question can you get to there BB at Ugate.. ??? Or is it really down.. :) :(

Just using the repair in IE fixed the problem. As far as using the IPs instead of DHCP, I had problems last time I tried that for some reason. I also have an ethernet to phoneline bridge and I have another pc hooked into my router through that from another room. It didn't like the static IP for some reason.

As far as the Ugate forum, it's been down a long time for me too. Everything works flawlessly for me really. Not until I messed with the tweaks did I have the IE problem. Now that I have my rwin where I want it I'm satisfied. I ordered a SMC Barricade to try out since they are so cheap. If it's better I'm selling the UGate, if not I will send the SMC back. I don't see how it could be better but when I ordered it I had a good reason...but I forgot what it was lol My network runs 24/7 with no problems ever. It's been fine for months. The only time I have a problem with the router is if I try to release and renew the WAN IP in the admin section. It never renews and even if it says it does it won't work. I just reset everything and reboot. I've done this maybe 4 times in a year so it's no big deal.
