My rwin reports as 65535 no matter what I do. I've installed the vtcp.386 update and I've unhooked my pc from my ugate 3000 to test at both dslreports and the TCP Analyzer here. I've even searched the registry for '65535' and it's no where to be found. My rwin is in the registry as 373360. Any ideas??

Set Tcp1323Opts to 1 to allow scaling:) :)

It is set to 1 and I've checked the Lan settings in IE and I do not use a proxy. Any more ideas?

What OS are you on?:)

Attackpup

Win98SE.

BTW, ramdrive tweak works fine but no noticable difference to me. I do networking and hardware for a living and so it's fun to use it anyway :D

Please click in my signature where it says Test your tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you.:) :)

I see where it says unscaled and here is what is in my registry for the Tcp1323Opts values:

Tcp1323Opts 0x00000001(1)

Should this be a string instead of a DWORD value?

Lobo

See above RWIN scaling 0, means Tcp1323Opts is not set to 1,
if by chance you are using adjuster, make sure there is a 1 in that box, click on save to registry at bottom and REBOOT or it will not work:) :)

See my post above your last one LOBO.

If you are on 98/SE I believe it is a string value:) :)

If you are using adjuster you need to select OS from options at top:) :) :)

Changing it to a string value fixed it. The reason it was a DWORD to begin with is the speedguide patch I have makes it one. Maybe it's been updated now but the one I have has this in one line :
HKLM,System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP,Tcp1323Opts,0x10001,"3"

That's in the sguide_tweak_98.inf file that I got from the site several months ago. IF it hasn't been changed by now maybe someone should fix that and change it to a string value??

Thanks for the help and patience :)

We have never had problem before, Win2k uses dwords, you sure you got right patch as if you did not, you have alot of dwords in your registry:) :)

Attackpup

Well as you can see by the patch name, sguide_tweak_98.inf, it's for win98. All of the other settings are normal for win98, just that one setting had a dword instead of string. Either way, it works now. Seems a bit quicker in browsing.

I have a new question now :) I have two computers hooked to my ugate3000 and on my second computer after using a cable patch I started getting a error at windows start saying that it couldn't load a protocal. I'm familiar with that error so I took out NETBEUI and reinstalled it. The error went away but not everytime I start up IE it says no internet connection and asks me to either work offline or try again. If I click try again it works fine. How do I fix that?

I don't know but below this thread is one by Dannjr who would know, start a thread with his name as subject and I'm sure he will answer you :) :) :)

Ok, thanks.

By the way, here are my latest bandwidth test speeds from pcpitstop.com

Download:2424 Kb/s
Upload: 360 Kb/s

I suppose that will do :) Thanks for the help Lobo!

I read the story and I also have the same problem but still couldnt fix it. I had my Tcp1323Opts set as a string (1) from the start and tryed the patches afterwords checking for what changes it made and nothing changed. Here is my test scores....

See this line under your rwin results:

"Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix. "

Have you done that? That actually fixed it on one of my computers. Just run the results again and follow the link it gives if you haven't done it.

I tryed all the current patches as well as adding the tweaks myself(first) , but still cant get higher then 65535. I have a few local friends around here as well that havent had any luck changing theres ither. I noticed once that my download speed improved but it made no effect on the analizer, also then i had made no changes then that i havent tryed this time.

Do you use a router or anything that could be limiting your settings? Like my Ugate 3000 limits my MTU below 1500 no matter what I set it to in the registry. I'm not sure if they can limit rwin values though.

Do you have Cablenuts adjuster installed:D :D :D

jamm`in, I am going by old test results you posted, please set Tcp1323Opts to 1, see above RWIN scaling =0 bits, scaling is off and RWIN cannot get any higher than 65535, turn it on by setting it to 1 and all will be fine
:) :)

If this is Win XP downloaded off net and not bought from Microsoft RWIN will not go above 65535 no matter what you do, set it to 64240:)

This is the fastest its been so far, from sguide_tweak_98_ME, SpeedGuide Web Patch , and MS Vtcp.386 fix for Windows 98 in that order from scratch. I`m not sure what we overlooked, but this works with a clean install.

thanks again, jamm`in :D
