Hi Lobo and others using XP. I've installed XP and I just have a few tweak questions. I want to run startup as lean as possible. When I go to msconfig, startup...everything looks different from 98SE. I go into services and there is a ton of stuff in there, most of which I'm asking you that I "really" need. Can you help me with that?? Also, how the heck do I get rid of MSN Messenger???I go to add/remove and it's not there any ideas??And are you guys experiencing any problems with ZA 2.6??Thanks alot.
Steve

You don't need ZA in XP as it has a built in firewall, my Network places, local properties, you find it, I would not delete the MSN thing as I believe it has something to do with Outlook Express:)

There is more in software forum about XP:) :) :)
The only thing I have in Msconfig under386th is NIC tweak value 7168:) :) :)

steve to remove msn messenger completly try this .
(messenger)
you have to open a file in your \Windows\inf\ dir. The file is sysoc.inf... Open the file, delete the word "hide" from the right side. Once hide is removed, save and close. Then go to add/remove programs, window components. Look at the new options! Windows Messenger is one of them. As is MSN Explorer.

Zone alarm is garbage . i would never run it on any of my machines
it is so easily defeated . but some say it is a good firewall but i know the truth on it . i would get into it but i dont think this is the right fourm for it . but if u wanna know i would be more than happy to tell you ..

just my $.02
Hope this helps
