View Full Version : what is going on????
i have a cablemodem surfboard 3100, and my speed on upload is 12 kb/s and in download is 40 kb/s.
what i can do? is there a tweak file to change that or make it better..

What are your system spex and what are your maximum speeds SUPPOSED to be? (advertised) The speeds you just described sounds just about right for a 512/128 line.... just an untweaked one. We can help you. Just provide us with the information we need :) Also, take the TCP/IP Analyzer test in my sig, post your results here by copying and pasteing everything BUT your IP Address. Good luck

did you just get installed?
has it always been this slow?
what method did you use to determine those speeds?
what o/s is installed on your pc?
do you know what packet loss is and how to determine if you suffer from it?
have you contacted your mso? if so, what did they say?
the cable modem itself is usually not the culprit. the issue almost always is either the signal quality (or lack of) coming into the house or the pc configuration.
with some additional details, your situation could be analyzed to determine what is going wrong.
max speed 300 kb

Please click in my signature where it says Test your tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you.:) :) :)

Are you on PPPoE as that is the patch you have in:
PPPoE you have to log on with name and password.
PPPoE ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet ) is a method for building PPP sessions and encapsulating packets, as described in RFC2516. Although it is not a standard, PPPoE is already being used by a number of DSL providers. It requires either routers that have built-in PPPoE support, or PPPoE software to "dial up" and establish the session.

Start fresh by going to help page below in signature and follow directions exactly, this will remove any prior patches :) :)
i download Cablenut program and The SpeedGuides patch'
but i dont now how uninstall previus patch;
i made a tcp/ip test again, and this is the result

what i do now;?????
Download and install this patch: sguide_tweak_98_ME, the other patch was uninstalled when you installed Cablenut, download and install Web patch for Win 98 (Faster loading of web pages patch), retest, repost so I can see if patch is in right:)
before i do all the change that you tell me i have to install vtcp386.zip
No you don't, you already did, it was not uninstalled by Cablenut, you still have it:)
ok i did it here are the result

It's in, good job :) :) :)
Thank.
one last question;
i have windows xp, what do think it is; for internet and all about that.
I have it, I like the speed but it takes a Doctor to figure it out :)
