NO ADDITIONAL RISKS that i can think of
make sure both the pc's have a Firewall and if i was you id run the connection on a L.A.N just to safe.

If i was you id take this opertunity to test out both your pc's security
run a port scan on (say) your work computer to see if you have any open ports on your home computer..(after all thas the one we really give a damn about right)..lol..
do you have any tolls to test system security
if you dont let me know and ill hand you a few links whitch you can download them from
what are you looking to do with the connection between both computers?
if your going to be filesharing id be cautious and use a good file sharing program...i got a few you might be interested in...
gimme a few more details:D :)

yes. i would like to use file sharing, but not if it creates unacceptable security risk. i've ran a port scan using shields up tools. thanks for you help. rookie:)

Err..

I'd be concerned with using gotomypc, but that's just me. While the service looks nice and the site is polished, two things spring to mind. One, you are letting a third party into your system. Two, it's not going to be free forever.

If you are concerned about security, but need to remotely use your desktop I would reccommend either Virtual Network Communicator (VNC) or pcanywhere. You will have to open a few ports in your firewall, but both these products require authentication before client access is permitted.
