Kinda off topic but i need some help.
You are running a IIS server correct?
Well I need to know how to install perl on it?
Do you know how?
How about setting up FTP accounts? Or do I just create a windows logon account for my accounts?
And where can I get the security patches that protected you from false urls?
thanks man
hello ping,
I personally dont run IIS, run Apache on the Windows platform b/c it is much more secure. If you plan on running IIS be prepared to watch just about everyday for recent security issues.
As far as IIS FTP you will be fine, the only security issue with that was a buffer overflow but thanks to many sleepless nights the overflow on the .dll link that was accessible with anonymous logon properties was patched.
FTP access can be setup the same way you give local access to the computer with user accounts. Just set read or write properties to specific folders with users and/or groups and you will be fine.
As far as patches go .... keep up with the updates Microsoft posts on there site. Critical updates are crucial as they are reports from "cert" "securityfocus" "tripwire" and many other hackers (actual hackers who are out for the good of computer security). Also make sure you update to service pack 2 on w2k.
Do you know how to install perl on my setup?
I want to use a UBB board but am dumbfounded while trying to set it up.
I have never run perl on IIS 5.0 only NT IIS 4.0 but you may be able to gain something from this site:
