View Full Version : Download Question
I have a 1Mb dsl connection. After tweaking i can download @ 135kb/s. That is my cap <actually a little over it>. Anyway, i just downloaded 2 files <87mb & 52 mb> @ the same time. One of them transfered @ 115kb/s & the other @ 75kb/s. That = 190kb/s. Isn't that almost 2Mb ? How does that work ? Why will 1 file not D/L @ 190 kb/s ?

well, it sounds like you are happy with the speed, but you must remember that you cannot always achieve max speeds :(
I have never had a file dl at my max speed either and I have more than hit my cap lol
lance - i appreciate the response but i still don't understand. if my isp has me capped at 1Mb/S <125kb/s d/l> how can i recieve data at 190kb/s with 2 d/l @ same time. if i have that much bandwidth, why will 1 file not d/l @ 190

I'm capped at 1.5mb/s, however I have downloaded through multiple sources at almost 600kb/s. My computer was so choked up though it would barely run while it was downloading.

gotta think about the server you are pullin from, I can't think of many that can send large amounts of data that fast when they have multiple users on them
there are many factors in dl ing
you are the smallest of em all, traffic is the largest

1.5Mb = 187kB
I don't see anything out of the ordinary with you getting 190kB/sec considering IE isn't really accurate in the first place.

tell me if this is right............................... "when doing a speedtest you should add 10% to the total kb/s measurement"
I saw that on a site and it seemed kinda odd to me, what is your input?

I don't see any logical reason behind adding 10% to the total... just use a little more accurate of test :)
