I hate to bother yall again, but had problems with HD and hadda reformat, and naturally this dummy did not keep anything written down. Anyway, P3 800, 512 Ram, and roadrunner cable. Most of the time before reformatted I was doing 185 transfer rate. Now, I have gotten cableguy, did the fast modem thing, reset RWIN to 513920 and blanked out the GlobalMax TCP, and now reset to below settings........................

TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 51 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Am I on right track.........can I do anything else, I checked the 256960 RWIN but Im not sure if I am doing better here or not. Every test I run on every server is different......Im a newbie...i apologize, but Im confused..........................:( :confused: :confused:

Your settings look fine. Look at other posts and try the RWIN's Lobo recommended. Good luck

not to step on EA, but look for RWIN's posted for people with the same CPU and the same type of connection as you not just any ol RWIN :)

also you may try some of the other tweaks...............

It is sometimes realized that one of the tweaks installed may actually harm you :( I recommend going one at a time and testing along the way so as if a tweak hurts your speed you know what to take out :)

Start with Cablenut proggy if you do as I recommend. As it will overwrite other tweaks and you will have to reinstall them anyway :)

Keep us posted on your Progress :D

should I be using the fast modem tweak or the normal one??? forgive my ignorance but I know just about enough to make me dangerous. I redid the cablenut program and used the normal cable tweaks and seemed to increase, but then again everytime i run 2 or 3 tests even clearing out cache and rebooting I dont know if im doing right or not.. here where I am now...

fast, you have a 56K modem right? If so then use fast, if you have like a 28.8 then use normal, but not too many of those anymore lol
