I was just wondering how it affected the people with dsl connections on this board. I have Win98 and wondering how much better my connection could get. It's currently around 1.2mbps/128kbps,I wanted to know if going through all the ramdrive stuff is worth it.Also please if you can show some of the results of using the ramdrive.
Thanks,
Alex

As matter of fact, it's benefited DSL users more than Cable users. Give it a shot! :) It helped me and I'm on DSL.

Thanks for the responses so far,but what about ping times, such as in games like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3,any info on that?
i have w98se & dsl. my ramdrive works great. web is faster. don't game much so can't help ya there. from what i have read i think it is supposed to help ping. maybe someone will see this that knows more about that than me.

please post a link how to set up a ramdrive on win98se... thanks!
man if ya really want to know - i'll tell ya how i did it but i must warn you - i had problems. i had made a recovery file and it saved me twice. the 1st 2 times i did it - it created the drive but when i put tcp/ip stack on it i couldn't connect to net at all. finally, EvilAjax helped me fix it.

RamDrives and RamDisks have been reported to help gaming as well as internet. Some say they get better speeds and most report better pings. It doesn't work for everyone, but I have never known it to hurt anyone :)
There is a link for the RamDrive and for the RamDisk in my sig :)
Have at it and enjoy :D
