Thank you for take your time to read my post.
My computer was working just fine. When I woke up this morning
All I had was the dam blue screen. I think it was my cat walk on the key bord. Now I get that dam windows proction error that i got when I messed around with norms ram drive.(that was my fult). It trys to load it twice. Its in my autoexct.bat. But anyway I got tried of messing with and just decided to use the restore disk. plz check this out......

I have already done some pertty stupid things. Like del my autoexec.bat file hoping windows would replace it with a defult one. but nope that did not help:(.

I either just want to start from the beginning agian or if I can't do that get it fix.

I ran into the promble befor I made the partion.
After tring to trying what I could to fix it. I decided to just run the restore disk. I read what you posted in the thread about that guy getting all the c:\ on boot up. About how it just rewrites your autoexec.bat file. Dou think that could be whats happing here. It the same promble that I was having ealier same error. I did make a cahnge to my autoexec.bat file yesterday I installed C++. but did not run into any prombles after reboot. I was not able to get to your help page about uninstalling the ramdrive had no inernet. Right now on my old gateway200 with 16 mb of ram:(. So what i did was go to the speedmedic short cut in the startup up short cut. went down to ram drive and click on uninstall. No Luck. So next what I did was same thing but also opened up my autoexec.bat and remove the line command for the ram drive. it was back on boot up:(. I do have a back up of my autoexec.bat but it does no good to run it I still get the same error.:(. If i have too I guess I'll undo the partion and just run the restore. But that many hours of work that I have on that partion. I really dont want to loss that:(.

Your right I m jumping in over my head.

What happends is that when I boot up my computer is I see It load every thing.

Than after a wait that takes to long I get a screen that says windows proction error Device rammangi I think thats it not sure.
than is says to reboot in safe mode.

I just restored my backup using the msconfig. I had back it up befor all this mess. with the msconfig. but That dont seem to do anything. I did not see the command line for the ramdrive after I booted up. But i got the same windows proction error. The last time this happend.

I opend up the ramdrive folder and ran the program I hade already had it installed and choess the # ! than rebooted still in safe mode and installed the ramdrive agian. 30 mb and that fixed it. but this time Its not helping i cann't get into normal.

Let me know were I need to be clearer on my posts:)

With two spaces above it. It cann't seem to get it save any cahnges i make to it.

ok I copyed the autopexec.org in to the c:\ and than I del. the autoexec.bat and than renamed the .org to dot bat rebooted tryed to go in to normal mose no luck.

what I have been doing is I use msconfig and put it on diagnostic start up tha if I have that slected I can boot in to nomal. But I can't use the normal startup.


The autoexec.bat stills looks the same as befor. on the diagnostic startup it load the ramdrive no promble but it does not load my video.

I also remove both of my ram chips and tryed them on at a time no luck there. Nothing looks to be worng with the fan.

It might be the vidoe the ram drive is load now.
I m in diagnostic mode right now and didn't run into any prombles with the ramdrive.

I just installed the drivers for the vidoe card. not to long ago.

My reg. is 1024x786 I think.

do you think thats to high? that it is croupting my video drivers?

I dont have a spare vidoe card to try out:(.

Do you think it could be the drecitx I have version 8 my friend had troubles with it.

OK I installed the video drivers and than rebooted. No luck there.

Than I booted into dos and restored a the eraliest reg. there :( still no luck.

I m totaly lost. Thanks for your help Norm I wonld have nopt made it this far with out it.

By any chance is the video on your system using shared memory. many brand name computers like HP, Compaq & even Dell & Gateway make machines with onboard video that shares a portion of RAM.

One way top tell is to total up the amount of RAM you have & check what it says by rt clicking the My Computer icon/Properties. The system RAM tally will show 4-8 MB less than what is actually there.

If yours is a shared type video then it may not function properly with the ram drive.

Yes tony my video does use shared memory

I Tryed that Norm and no luck there either.

I have also tryed uninstalling the ram drive befor the changes were made to the autoexec.bat than add
back after you posted and than added the lines to the autoexec.bat and config.sys.

I didn't have any prombles uninstalling it either does the ramdrive even have anything to do with it?

I have no Idea what rammagni is.
Nothing shows up in the find files and folders.
I probly deleted it some how.

No being a fool I didn't make a copy of my autoexec.bat.

I dont blam you or your program Norm it was my fult;)

I did a search on it and foind only one pages using google

I m back into noraml everything is loaded fine.
Storm suggested to me that I could run the setup for windows.
I did that nothing lost and no prombles booting up my computer

I lost nothing my wallpaper and everything stayed the same.

I dont have a windows cd. But my friend copyed the win98 folder to my hard drive when he help me install win98(not from the restore disk). so i just opened that up and ran setup.
