View Full Version : Tiny not letting things out...
ok, just installed tiny personal firewall, now when I boot my system I get a system thingy trying to connect to some @home ip, cannot who is on it, its allmost as if when I try to access the internet in any way allmost this starts up. just says "system" thats it. This normal?? zone never said anything about it.
Hey Silver
There is a (previous) thread on the setup of Tiny...it contains a very good web page with details.
Go here (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26745) to connect to the thread.
Good Luck
Cool, thanks Freda, I was wondering more about the system program and if anyone else gets it, I will look at that page when I get home though and configure it.
I'm Currently running both zone and tiny, in an effort to see which is the better firewall. For me anyways.
Anyone know if the system thing should be doing that??
Is your system possibly just renewing its ip address or contacting your DNS servers? Check the ip that system is trying to connect to then compare it to your DNS servers.
Just a thought

Thanks for the info, guess I will allow those proggies to go through then hehe.
Hey Bad_boy
If you are using SYGATE, please refer to this previous thread here (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31799) ......also you can ask Storm...Croc or Blebs about the problems with SYGATE.

S1lvr inorder for tiny to release your Ip DHCP ports upd 68.67.546,547 will be one of your IP ports . Your DNS port will be 53 this is for most web sites. It will tell you the port for each program you just have to give it permission. It will not do it on default. You have to allow the DHCP server for icommeing and outgoing. The rest you can allow for outgoing most usally and get away with this. Hope this helps you out.;)
Thank you all for the help, I have now uninstalled zone alarm and just running on tiny. It does not seem to report as much as zone though, Do you know if it just reports actual connect attempts?? Zone had that window where it would tell you ping and icmp and the like. Havnt found that on tiny yet, but going to give it the trial run. Running tiny and Zone both at the same time sucked, had to click on all these authorizations, then they would also fight some...
Tiny: ZONE WANTS TO ACCESS THE INTERNET DAD.
me: Deny.
Zone: TINY'S TRYING TO GET OUT TOO!
me: deny.
(idle time goes by)
Zone: ICQ WANTS TO ACCESS THE INTERNET!
Tiny: ICQ WANTS TO ACCESS THE INTERNET!
me: deny
I swear I could allmost hear em in the background...
Tiny: I got that warning off first.
Zone: No way I did!
Tiny: nu uh, I did.
Zone: U LIE I DID!
Tiny: Hey why dont you try to update yourself, I'll stop that too!
Zone: Oh yeah, why dont you try to update YOURSELF!
Zone: I was here first jerky!
Tiny: Yeah, but read up, im better.
Zone: DIE, THOSE ARE OPINIONS!
Tiny: O good try to update there zone, HELLO BLOCKED!
Zone: Right back at cha.
me: uninstalls zone
Zone: nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Tiny: I win
Me: Dont get too comfortable bub, this = trial run, if you suck then you go. Nice resources though btw, you dont take much at all.
Tiny: I try :D
Yep, im bored at work, can you tell??
