Hello, I'm back.
I'm still having the same problem.
My cable connection is going on and off.
At least I can do some routine stuffs, so... I should feel lucky (?)
I cannot download massive amount of porns like I used to. :)

Let me ask you about the static routing Linksys.
I understand I need to put in 192.168.1.10 as my IP address and also as gateway. Now I need to put 192.168.1.11, 192.168.1.12, as DNS server.

Now my question.
Do I put those information in the router setup page AND the windows control panel's network config?

I was getting confused because I didn't know if you were talking about router's setup or Windows setup.

Also, I have noticed on the router's setup page, I cannot check both connect on demand AND keep alive at the same time. I only get to pick one. Any advise?

By Golley~~!!! just how hard can this be?
Can a man get some free porns around here?
There must be a website that explain these things...
Why am I the only one who's chasing for the world's greatest secret? It's been working great for several months, I set up the router, so I cannot be that stupid... I wonder if this is my cable company's doing...

You need to put 192.168.1.1 as the gateway. http://members.nbci.com/HQH51/HTML/befsr41setup.htm is a good linky setup page. Also, http://www.cox.com/service/coxathome/linksys.asp is a page from cox@home that might help you. Good luck...it takes a little bit of work to make it work right if this is your first time...hang in there.

LOL You are too funny!!!!! Well.. With regards to your setup, you do not use the same IP address for a client, and for the gateway. Your router is your LAN's gateway, so whatever LAN port IP address you gave it, that's what the workstations' gateway IP should be. For example..

LAN scheme I have at home:

NetGear RT314 router has a WAN IP address, and a LAN IP address. My WAN IP address, or the IP that Telocity gave me, is 64.192.208.***. I decided to make the LAN IP address on the router to be 10.11.12.1.

On your workstations, you will configure a static IP address within the IP range 10.11.12.0, or something like 10.11.12.25 for one of them. The gateway on this workstation would be 10.11.12.1. DNS server would also be 10.11.12.1. Your router automatically acts as an internal DNS server for your LAN once you configure your ISP's DNS servers on it. Hope this helps.

Netgear settings won't necessarily help him.

Generally, the setup is the same across the board, just different looking settings.

You can pick any internal IP address of 192.168.1.2-253 for your workstations behind the router, each one being unique.

The router, by default, will take 192.168.1.1, so you can't use that, and the routers IP of 192.168.1.1 is the gateway for all your workstations.

The DNS servers will not be anything in the private 192.168.XXX.XXX range, they will be a public IP address, you can find this by looking at the status page of your Linksys router when it's connected, also on your ISP's support webpage, or any documents they sent you when you signed up with them, or by calling their support.

Leave WINS disabled on all your workstations, you'll never use WINS on a home network.
