cablenut REALLY helped my speed

to begin i used to have the default settings on win98se. i dled aol which is a fast site at a rate of about 40KB/s. then i installed cablenut, redownloaded it at a rate of 120KB/s! no this is not cached since i cancelled the aol file before it got finished both times. i do not have aol installed on my computer either. not bad for a 512/256 connection eh? many thanks to cablenut.

i'm very sorry to disapoint you, but that 120kb/s aren't possible... your very best (teoretically) should be 64kb/s (512/8=64)

besides, you *always* have losses, so even the 64kb/s aren't possible (most of the times)

i have a 768/128 connection and sometimes i have downloads at 200kb/s!!! but i keep that to myself because i know they aren't real... my best should be 96, but most of the times i only get 80 :((

for that speed i would query your isp.

maybe get better net work card or wipe and reload your os!

Well, I know that's true. Dividing kbps by 8 gives you transfer rate. Well, here's my transfer rate with a 640/90 line.

Clearly showing that it's not a speed burst. 25% done.. doing 166.9 KB/Sec... a 414 MB file. Also, resume is NOT supported, therefor, that stupid pause/resume boost would be impossible to do. Just showing you that nothing is impossible. BTW, don't tell Verizon!:rotfl:

Of course! Without it, my speed would be nothing. I recommend cablenut's adjuster to everyone. NurseTCP sucks BTW. I also did other tweaks, non registry ones. System.ini tweak seemed to affect my performance the most. :) CableNut's adjuster is the ****. Mad props to CableNut. Thanks man.

Im using ADSL, but my tweaks will still work. Not the RWIN tweaks, but I have some that may work for you. How many MHz is your computer? How much RAM do you have? What Operating System are you running? Are you using CableNut's adjuster? Take the TCP/IP Analyzer test and post your results, this is just to get a good look of what your current settings are, and to see what we can play with. Before making any changes, backup your registry. Click start, run, then type regedit. In Registry Editor, click Export Registry File. Type Before changes or whatever you want. Then click save. This is so that if anything goes wrong, you can always restore you previous settings.

The adjuster does come with its own settings, they're called ccs files. You can try those if you want. What we'll do now is the system.ini tweak. Right click My Computer then select Properties. Click the Device Manager tab. Click the plus on Network Adapters, then select your NIC, then click Properties below. In the properties window, click the Resources tab, remember the Interrupt Request setting, mine is 11, yours may vary. Cancel out of all the properties and device manager. Click start, run then type sysedit. Select the System.ini window. Scroll down until you see [386Enh]. There add a new setting and name it Irqn=6144. n=the number I told you to remember earlier. Reboot for changes to take affect. Good luck

That's impossible. The cablenut adjuster comes with them. Do the system.ini tweak. Double click your Cablenut folder on your desktop. You should see a folder called ccs... if not, go to www.cablenut.com and download it again. Do the system.ini tweak! LOL

Um ok. What settings did you change in the CableNut Adjuster? Load ccs\Cable\cable_normal_9x. Set MaxConnectionsPerServer (and the one above it) to 8. Reboot and let me know if you're still downloading at dial up rates.
