I am experiencing a very unusual & frustrating bug when viewing webpages. A seemingly random error occurs where graphics are loaded into the wrong spot on the page, or duplicated accross the page. EG, on a page that is supposed to have 3 different pictures, sometimes the same picture gets loaded 3 times. Hitting refresh corrects the problem, but it is very annoying.

The bug occurs in both MSIE and Netscape. It occurs on many different sites on servers from all different locations.. I have tried all the standard troubleshooting procedures (closing down memory resident proggies, reinstalling, checking all connections, etc) to no avail.

This problem only occurs when I am connected to the net using my Sprint Broadband (MMDS Fixed Wireless) connection. The problem does not happen when I connect via 56k modem. Furthermore, the problem occasionally appears on my neighbors computers, who also use Sprint Broadband.

A week ago, my Sprint connection inexplicably improved, and everything was real fast and zippy. The bug disappeared. But the connection has since become slow again and the bug is back. Very frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon, or have any theories/fixes?

you might want to try updating u'r video card drivers

I don't see how an ISP could cause that tho...like I said, just try updating u'r drivers...it may work ;)

This sounds like a problem with the ISP's caching server.

Can't imagine what else it could be.

Can you disable using the proxies in your browser? It may be that you do not have a choice. Uploading an update to your website is not enough for the proxy to update the page. Most proxies operate on a first in, first out principle and update after a pre-determined amount of time, I believe @Home's time is 30 minutes. Every 30 minutes (provided the site is being accessed enough for a cached copy on the proxy), the proxy checks for an updated version of the page. If you have problems getting the page to display even after refreshing, try clearing your browser cache. If still a problem try forcing the refresh by holding down the shift key and hitting refresh at the same time. Your 56k dial up is probably not using a proxy server. Proxies are probably here to stay for a while because it is cheaper and faster than going out on the internet for a frequently accessed web page. It is faster to store a copy of that page on a proxy. The bad part of this is accessing non redundantly accessed information like stock tickers, online games, etc. In these instances, the proxy is usually slower than a direct connection.
