Hey,

I have been tweaking and twisting for the past day or so. Wanted to get some feedback on how I look. First, here's my specs.

Pentium III/ 550MHz
256 MB PC100 RAM
@Home Cable, USB directly connected to modem box, no Ethernet converter or anything

Here is my results of the Analyzer
------------------------------------
TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 52 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
---------------------------------------------

So how do I look? Any recommendations or concerns?

One note: Just two weeks ago, I had upstream CONSISTENTLY averaging over 1000k. Then, one day it was down to 128k (my purchased, capped speed). I just wanted to say this because it CAN happen that a cap is not always enforced. I think it had something to do with @HOME not fully activating my account until we had service done on our TV cable and they noticed.

Sometimes you get better speed from smaller RWIN, try 481800 and check it out, also see help page below on how to do real speedtest and how to get rid of @home's proxy server for good :) :) :)

Thanks, I'll try it out. Not sure if anyone here is familiar with @Home's USB/Ethernet convertor, but is it needed?

My modem has a USB connection along with an Ethernet connection, so I just unhooked the 'convertor' and directly connected the modem to the computer. I'm assuming that I've just optimized the connection seeing as how I got rid of extra stuff. I'm still getting the same speed so I guess I'm right. I just wanted any feedback.

Thanks
J
