I have a cable modem that uses a built in 56k modem for uploads so i confused how to tweak it to get max speed it is capped at 70K and i only get 55 most time but i can start some dls and get first 500K as soon as it starts so how is it capped if i do that.

okay, you confused the shat out of me.. you mixed uploads and downloads in the same sentence... whos your cable service provider? "built in 56k modem for uploads"??? Post your system specs, OS, all that good stuff. Welcome to the board :)

hmm.. what is it exactly you want? Upload speeds can't be helped.. if you're upload speed is capped then only your ISP can help ya there.. if you want us to help you tweak your internet settings, and make your download experience faster... then take the tcp/ip analyzer test.. then copy and paste the results here.. make sure you take out the IP address.. here's the link http://forums.speedguide.net/optd.shtml
good luck.. :) :p

Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b4010303030101080a000000000000000001010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1448, which is less than MSS because of Timestamps, or other TCP/IP options used.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 372296
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 46537
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 14891.84 kbps (1861.48 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 5956.736 kbps (744.592 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 115 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON
Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data.

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

126041 connections tested since 03.10.2001.

Looks like Tweak-Me settings which are not the best :)

I would follow instructions on my help page below that will get rid of tweak me settings and put in better ones. Do not use the RAM thing in Tweak-me if you have it, as it will slow you down alot, when you finish the box that says DefaultRvcWindow may be changed to one of the following, 373760 0r 385440. If this is 95/98/SE leave the box that says GlobalmaxTcpwindosize-BLANK, W2k same number as DefaultRvcWindow, save to registry at bottom and reboot, repost, please :)

If you want to go back to what you had do this:
Put your startup or boot disk in, boot to a DOS prompt Type: scanreg /restore (space between g and /) highglight lastest date and press enter, your there :)

There's no way it could have been slower unless you made GlobalmaxTcpwindosize Blank and it says above W2k the same as Default rvc window :)

Also you may uninstall Cablenut which will bring you back to default and then reinstall what you had, you never posted as requested above any test results so we could see what the problem was, but it was not the patches,
it was a small mistake that could have been corrected.

You can tweak the 56k modem. This may help a little with your uploads.Go to www.tweak3d.net. (http://www.tweak3d.net.) They have some tweaks their for 56k modems. Just use the modem tweaks for the modem it self. Use the cable tweaks for the reg. This way you may hit your cap for the upload. But thats about it. What ever your cap is. Thats all you will come close to. Just follow the other advice given to you to. ;)

Now A little education here... Back a few years ago Cable use to do download on a cablemodem and upload on the phone modem.
These old Lancity Modem Like I have now were designed for oneway speed.
Then they figured out how to do a two way transfer on cable which is where they are at now.
The above Poster stated his provider is a small one.. and they probally bought some old oneway modems or something like that.
But I think he can tweak his download I don't think anyone can tweak their uploads.
(although tweaking his phone modem might help)
So pay attention Guys... You're jumping the gun too quick on this one. :)
