Looking for some help here - downloaded the MS patch, installed and rebooted, but I'm still showing a cap of 65535 . Where do I go from here? (I set the Rwin in the registry to 513920)
Mediaone.net PIII 450, win98se
Thanks!
TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 119 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
If you are running as OS WIN 95/98/SE you need patch off patch page Vtcp386 Fix for your OS :)
Also if your RWIN is to high, which I think it is try 385440 :) :)

thanks, lobo, but I applied the patch before posting, and the test results were after the patch. That's why I think the patch didn't work? TIA
You apllied speed patch not Fix patch. Fix patch allows scaling and for you to get above 65535 :)
Read above in your test right below 65535 :)
Vtcp386 Fix patch off patch page this site and repost, please :) :)

errr...the "his" is a "her" in this case ;) , but a geek guru sounds like a good thing right now.
Well, here's where I'm at: I neglected to mention that I'm also running ICS thru an 8 port switch.
Lobo, thanks, but for sure I did download and apply the fix, not the speed patch. Actaully I've just downloaded it again, and will go thru the steps, but..
I thought my problem sounded very similar to another thread in which the patch didn't seem to be working. His solution was found thru cablenut's software, so I tried that.
Used the cable 9_ in the ccs file. Worked great- all my numbers corrected.
And my ICS, alway very stable, did not work at all. The network was fine, all of the pcs showed up in the neighborhood, but only my machine, the "server", had internet access. Do the proxies or the TCP/IP change?
Anyway, to recoup I reinstalled the regedit backup, upped the rwin manually, and I'm in exactly the same place as before - capped at 65---
So, what about this?
Make sure his Tcp1323Opts is set to 1 or 3 guys...
Lead on and I'll follow. You guys are great to take all of this time to help.

Ok, I reapplied the fix, no change. I then used cableguy's manual tweak to reset the TCP1323. Here's what I've got now, and my ICS is working:TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402

How are these numbers? TIA for the advice.
Test looks fine but I think the RWIN might be alittle high, if you have problems try one above :)
Cablenut, I see that blank adjuster on your software page, sure would save alot of people from going into there registries and with having to go to other sites to get a tool to change setting's, I'm just dreaming so don't bite me :) :) :) :) :) :)

There is also a little progie that fixes your VTCP386 to besides the patch. It called
DHCPFIX. You can get it at www.analogx.com (http://www.analogx.com) I use it and it allows me to run high wrins. Plus I have very low pings and no packet loss. Just for the fun of it one day when I was reformating my son's compter. Instead of installing the VTCP386 Patch I tried it and it work great .Plus does the same thing the patch does. The only thing great about it is if you have problems you caan shut it down or remove it. :)
