Can anybody give me a how-to configure RWIN, step-by-step?
If possible, I would like to understand all, from PING, adjustments and math considerations.
I have CABLE NUT program.
thx for all
I might be able to help you find a RWIN that will speed you up alittle if you furnish me with the Mhz of your CPU, as far as explaining all the in's and ouy's that would take all day so I will leave you a link to Microshaft's white papers here (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1323.html) :)

Environment:
CPU PIII 650 MHZ
RAM 192 MB
ADSL 256 kbps
3COM 812
From speedguide:
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 240 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = OFF
thx
What OS are you running :)
Do you log in using PPPoE, you might get better answer from Dannjr here (http://www.networkranch.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?&category=1)
He works with Cablenut :)

I am using Win98SE.
I do not know if I am using PPPoE. How can I know?
It is a short comment, but ...
I turn on modem, turn on PC, and it is all I know, excuse-me.
PPPoE you have to log on with name and password.
PPPoE ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet ) is a method for building PPP sessions and encapsulating packets, as described in RFC2516. Although it is not a standard, PPPoE is already being used by a number of DSL providers. It requires either routers that have built-in PPPoE support, or PPPoE software to "dial up" and establish the session.
Please click on "here" above to ask Dannjr as he probably has better answer :)
But I will tell you this, it appears patch is not installed, do this:
On desktop will be a Cablenut 4.0 folder, click on this folder, select ccs, then select
PPPoE/DSL (select your ccs file-settings)
Select normal or fast settings according to instructions.
:)
Gee, im busy and not thinking clearly, after selecting ccs file you must click on save to registry at bottom and reboot for changes to take affect, sorry :)
