Subject: New Assignment Server Protocol and F@H... 2.0
Hi,
We are now mixing and balancing the work between servers much
better. This way, people should not be "stuck" on a given server for
more than an hour if there are any problems. Also, it should lead to
more variety in the WUs.
We're making good progress toward 2.0. My plan is to roll it a
little before our main results from Folding@h... 1.0 are released to
the press (which I hope will happen in 3-4 weeks). Those results
will be pretty exciting (IMHO) and will generate more press for the
project.
With that influx of new users, I want to make sure that everything
(or almost everything) we've talked about (caching, longer WUs,
compression, http, new stats) is in by then. 1.0 has had its share
of problems and we've learned from them in creating G@H... 1.0. I want
to nail them all down for 2.0. With our experience and code from
G@H..., and me, Siraj, Adam, and Chris working on this, I think that
sounds like a reasonable goal.
