I've got a Win2k machine running as server with ICS running with 1 client machine (so far) running ME. I would like to share files between them, but worried about someone getting into my machines. Will binding file sharing with netbieu instead of TCP/IP work? And how do I go about doing this on both machines....would I be able to telnet to them with netbieu and have access to files?
Thank you!!

NetBEUI is not a routable protocol, in other words you can't access a machine over the internet that runs that protocol. Running this protocol on all your Windows machines for file/print sharing is the most desirable, as it provides more secure features over TCP/IP. I'm not saying it is the MOST secure, only that it provides some security that TCP/IP does not. As with any good security measure you should install a good software firewall, such as the one from www.zonelabs.com (http://www.zonelabs.com) and it's FREE!
As for binding file/print share services in Windows 98 just go to the properties page of TCP/IP and UN-BIND file/print sharing from it and install NetBEUI, Windows does the rest.

Thanks, I've installed zonealarm on the machine, but it won't let my client access the internet through it. I didn't really have the time today to figure out how to let that specific port or machine only have access.
