Ok, this question has been probably passed around thousands of times, but I need a straight answer and all the suggestions I can get. All help is appreciated. I currently have a home network consisting of three computers. 1 HOST, and 2 CLIENTS. I am running WIN ME on all machines and the host is using Enternet 1.41 with WIN ME Internet Connection Sharing. Internet Service provider is SWBELL with one Dynamic IP.
Ok, The problem: The two client computers have troubling connecting to certain web pages. Web Pages like, www.aol.com, (http://www.aol.com,) www.napster.com, (http://www.napster.com,) and alot more. I don't understand this. I could understand if I had problems with CHAT programs (AIM, ICQ), but I don't have problems with them. I know it must be ICS on WIN ME, because it is reproducible on both machines for the same sites. Why is this? I would think, that at least the computers (clients) could browse any web page, since these computers are making a request.
HELP!? Is it just because WIN ME ICS is terrible, or is this a problem with any ICS software (NAT). Is there software out there that allows for more flexibily and is easy to use and set up with my existing network... Could someone share some input, tips, and/or advice with me?
One more thing.... in the future I may invest in a DSL router. Please help with the above Q's cause this router might come way down the line, but would a router solve all my problems (MOST?), logging in w/PPPoE, ICS (NAT), flexible.
Thank you everyone that can give me some feedback!
