Hey everyone. This is a great forum and until now, have only been a voyeur. But I'm registered now!!

OK, here's my dilema. I fairly new to win2k, but I want to make this machine a server and enable ICS. Can someone please tell me how to go about doing this. I have 4 computers I'd like to connect to the machine. I've got 2 NICs in it(which are sharing the same IRC, but that's another deal)and I have a Linksys 5 port hub. So now I just need to promote the machine to a server and enable ICS to pass out IPs to the other machines.

Thanks in advance http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

Set the clients up dynamically.

OK, great! So to set up the clients dynamically you mean to assign the IP's to each NIC on the cliens manually?

thanks, I appreciate it

</font>No, that would be statically. For dynamic configuration, select obtain for IP and DNS.

OK, I have the NIC to the modem enabled for ICS. Now what do I set the NIC that goes to the hub to? Keep it whatever the default is or set it to obtain IP and DNS also? Also on the task bar my the little icon of my #2NIC is there with a red X to it. It says that the LAN connection is disconnected, but it is to my hub. Do I need a Xover cable from the #NIC to my hub's uplink port? I don't right now. If I switch the connections, then the #1NIC shows up with the red X and #2goes away. Also the lights on the #2NIC aren't on when connected to my hub, but they will if I connect to my cable modem, but my hubs LAN/ACT light is on...which makes me think I need the Xover cable. For my client PC running ME, I've changed the TCP/IP for the NIC: DNS to enable and gave the host name of my "server" computer and to obtain IP address. That's all I've changed on the client

Thanks for your help so far http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

When will the sharing tab appear? I only have one NIC and no sharing tab. Will it appear after I install another NIC or what?

Just so you know, I am also running Win2K Pro

Thanks for the help
