I have 3 computers. I want to network the 2 and share a cable connection. Instead of buying a router, I want to use the third computer to act as a server (nothing else will be done on this computer, won't even have a monitor hooked up). I will install Linux on this box cause we all know it's the best Server O/S http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif . I want to network the first computer by 10 base T. This computer is only 2 feet away and will be running Win2k/ME. I also want to network the 3rd computer by HomePNA 2.0 (10Mbps). How would I set up this network?? I want to share files and game on the two computers but I just want the third to act as a gateway. I am a newbie at this so if it could be step by step, I would be greatful. Here's the Specs to all computers:

1st machine (Server)
P2 Xeon 450
192 MB SDRAM
10 base T networking card
13.4 GB HD

2nd machine (10 base T)
1.2 Ghz Athlon
512 MB SDRAM
75 GB HD
10/100 networking card

3rd machine (HomePNA 2.0)
866 Mhz P3
128 MD SDRAM
20 GB HD
USB HomePNA 2.0 networking adapter

lemme know if you need more info about anything. Thanks for all your help.

fubarman-greetings!
sounds like you have pretty much all you need to get set up. What kind of hub do you have?

I don't have a hub, I didn't think I would need one. Just put in the HomePNA Networking card in the Linux box and go from there. If I need a hub, I would just buy this (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=161&grid=3) networking bridge from Linksys.

with 3 PC you will either need a hud/switch or all your nic will need to be able to support COAX network cable...YUK! Your server will also need 2 nics, 1 for the cable modem, 1 for the internal LAN.
