I have the linksys BEFSR41 and im sharing one Cable modem to two computers. I have no problem with internet connection. Its great all but when i want to connect directly to the second computer on my lan.

Im a real newbie to the whole router concept. Is there a way that I can conncet directly to the other computer for ie File transfer/Printer sharing ...

Please help!!!!!

Are you saying you cannot connect to the internet with your second computer?

im useing windows 98se on both computers. i can get on the internet with both computers just cant file transfer between the two of them..

if i go into network neghborhood i can't see the other computer. (from either computer.
thats my problem.

can i create a network so i can do this.. and how do i do it?

If you plan on sharing files or printers on your private network you should enable NetBeui as it provides some security.

You should check to make sure that both machines are in the same Workgroup, this can be found on the Identification tab of the Network Control Panel. Also, make sure you bind File and Printer Sharing to the NetBeui protocol should you choose to do it, if it is bound to TCP/IP also make sure you uncheck it also if NetBeui is used.

Would it work if your shared folder was the root directory?

I believe all you need to do then is share the drive. I think I did that once. Just go into Explorer and share the drive you want to see on the other computer.

Thanks guys it worked using netbui but i want to explor the entire computer. is tehre a way of doning that? All i can do is share things between the two computers through the "sharedfolder".
