more help with simple home network

I have set up the workgroup and protocols and enabled sharing etc etc, and all is well.

I have now discovered that dependingwhich of the computers NIC that I have the crossover adapter plugged into is the one that can see both PCs in Network neighbourhood. If this adapter is faulty would this explain why I can see both PCs in only one and not even browse Network neighbourhood in the other???

Could be!Not sure! Go over your network settings and make sure they are the same on both computers. And all drives are setup for shareing.
